Innovative Works

 The first innovative work was a chart presented in the last lesson of the Chapter, "The Happiness Machine". Unlike other charts, it was a story map. Through the story map, the learners could get a good understanding of the story easily.

The second innovative work was a Relative Pronoun Kit. It consisted of a spin wheel and sentences in small envelopes. The students are given the spin wheel and they are asked to spin it. After they spin the wheel, they must say a sentence related to the particular item. If they are unable to produce a sentence they can open the envelope with the same colour in which they find out a sample sentence. For example, if the student get "Thing" (orange colour) when they spin the wheel, she must create a sentence using the relative pronoun that or which. If she is unable to do so, she can open the envelope in orange colour and read out the sample sentence. This would help her create a new sentence in the same pattern. This would help them learn through a fun activity.

Value Education - Trust

 On 17th January, I asked Baburajan Sir of Amrita Girls HS, Parakode if he could take a class on value education for 9.A students. He allowed me to do it The students were taken to the playground. The first activity done was a blind fold game. Students actively participated in the game. Jency and Ardra became the winners of the game and they were given a prize for winning it. I also explained the significance of the game and pointed out the need for trusting each other.

Second activity was done on 18th January. The teacher came to the class and divided the dass into two groups. They were asked to discuss and enact a skit based on the topic trust. They were given 10 minutes to discuss and after that both groups came and enacted very nicely. The first group enacted a skit which depicts trust in a family and second group presented trust among friends.

Today I conducted the achievement test. Also, we three had planned to take a conscientization programme as it was prescribed on our syllabus. We took the topic of ozone depletion. As there was no free period, we had to ask a teacher to rent her period. We three took the class explaining in a way that the students could easily comprehend. We also took a yoga class which for the students was a new experience.

Students were busy with their practice for the School Annual Day programmes. They came and asked us to join them. It was announced that the school sports day will be held on 24th January. In the evening, there was a meeting for class 10 students to discuss about their farewell party. An innovative lesson on "The Happiness Machine" was taken on the day.

The day started off with the morning assembly conducted by class 10A. Sonia was on leave today and we had to engage her period. The answer sheets of the achievement test were given on the day. In the afternoon, my students called me to take a look at their dance performance which they were doing on the annual day. I also conducted a value education class today.

Role Play for Value Education

The day felt to be very short and we never wanted to leave this beautiful place. It was the concluding day of Phase I of the internship programme we were very sad to leave these wonderful kids and our dear mentors. We gave the students sweets and they returned some gifts and sweets which really meant a lot to us. From their words itself, we could easily understand how much we have influenced them in a very short time. It was really hard to say goodbye and we really wish to see this wonderful source again in our life.

Week 8 @ School

 08/01/2024

We came back to the school after a long gap and we were very happy that everyone there was delighted to see us back. Students gathered around us and told that they missed us very much. As it was Monday, there was an assembly and Anjali K.S and Gayathri were felicitated for their remarkable perfomance in State Youth festival and state level Karate championship respectively. Students of class 10 went to see a Kathakali' as part of their syllabus. Teachers were comparatively less and we had to engage free hours.

Today was a bit gloomy. There wasn't any interesting events. Teachers almost finished their syllabus and they asked us to engage some of their periods. In the afternoon section, there was a P.T.A meeting of class 10 students. Students were seen enjoying themselves talking and playing different games. It drizzled afternoon which gave us a bit comfort.

Today I came to the school only in the afternoon because I had to show my achievement test to the optional teacher. My period was at the first hour itself. I asked my colleague Sonia to engage my students in that hour. I got a free period to engage them after I arrived the school. There was an announcement that the school anniversary will be held on January 25. I got a  chance to meet the parents of my students as it was their PTA meeting.

The day was a bit hot and exhausting. The morning assembly was conducted by Students of 10 A. They were not prepared and had some flaws in it. H.M insisted them to do the next assembly as well fully prepared. After the assembly, Binulal Sir and Smitha Miss came to observe our class. Jijan sir came shortly after they had gone. He observed my class. I took my class well and he seemed happy about it. He gave few suggestions to improve also.

I was able to take the class very well. There were a lot of free periods as the PTA meeting of 8th standard students were conducted. The practice for the upcoming Annual Day programmes is going in full swing. The special classes for 10th standard students started to prepare them for the board exams.
